The FrostigSchool is lead by a team of experienced administrators
Tobey Shaw, M.A. is the Principal of the Frostig School in Pasadena, California. She has served as the Coordinator of the Trafford Center on Technology and Learning Disabilities and is a certified Assistive Technology Specialist with both administrative and special education credentials and more than twenty years experience in the implementation of technology for students with special needs. She is the author of numerous articles on technology and is a frequent presenter at conferences on learning disabilities. In addition to her role at the Frostig Center, Ms. Shaw teaches in the special education credential program at California Lutheran University.
Chris Schnieders, Ph.D. has been the Director of Teacher Training at the Frostig School since 2001. She teaches part-time at local universities in teacher preparation programs in special education. Prior to moving to California, Chris worked in teacher training programs at universities in Nebraska, New Mexico, and Missouri. Her K-12 experience includes administrative work at psychiatric hospitals in New Orleans and as a teacher and diagnostician for the New Orleans Public Schools. While completing her doctorate, she worked as a project coordinator for a grant that studied highly successful adults with learning disabilities. She is a Certified Professional Developer in learning strategies created by the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning.
Bruce Hirsch, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with 30 years of experience in the field of learning disabilities. Bruce has an ongoing interest in the interactions between learning disabilities and emotional issues. He was a participant in the Frostig international symposium on Psychotherapy and the Learning Disabled Client in France in 1990. For SchwabLearning, he co-authored on-line articles on anxiety and LD and was a guest expert on emotional issues and LD on their message board in July 2006. As Clinical Director, Bruce currently supervises our related services (counseling, speech & language, educational therapy, adapted physical education), serves as a problem-solving resource to students and parents, maintains contact with our alumni, provides a psychological perspective to our administrative team, and continues to sustain our interdisciplinary team approach.
